Ceanothus prostratus var. prostatus
A small purple flower appearing in clusters. The plant itself normally appears as ground cover, i.e., mat, but may occur as a bush 12"-18" high. Leaves of the bush look like holly leave, but are only 1/2" in size. Blooms April-June, occurring to 8000'. Native Americans used the flower as an ingredient in soap.
